Background of the Study
A balanced diet is essential for maintaining overall health and preventing chronic diseases. It consists of appropriate proportions of macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). Public awareness of balanced diets plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal nutrition and health outcomes.
In Kaduna State, malnutrition and diet-related diseases continue to pose significant public health concerns. While various health campaigns and educational programs emphasize the importance of balanced diets, it is unclear how much the general public understands and applies this knowledge. This study assesses public awareness of balanced diets in Kaduna State, examining the factors that influence dietary knowledge and practices.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the availability of nutrition information through health campaigns, schools, and media, many individuals in Kaduna State still engage in poor dietary practices.
